This particular tea tray, Jesse made from a gorgeous piece of black walnut, is reminiscent of the hamsa hand. The hamsa, or hand, is a palm-shaped symbol that has multiple meanings across different cultures: A symbol of protection, power and strength, and also symbolic of abundance.
The wood was sustainably harvested and milled in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Jesse joined, routed, sanded, and oiled it to achieve its final, silky smooth finish, making it a beautiful tea altar, providing you with all the drainable features for a gong fu tea ceremony.
The brass plate is my original art and was cut from solid brass that will patina with use, telling its own tale of time well shared with self and others.
It takes a certain kind of grit… and I’m not only referring to sandpaper…to be a maker of three- dimensional hand crafted beauty. Only some know and understand how to honor and appreciate what truly goes into it from start to finish.
The dimensions are is 17”x15.5”x2” and It is available on my website in the Dragon Gate Designs section.
